Jan Trafas Music is  a Recording and Mixing Engineer, Record Producer, and Drummer based in London. He works full-time as the only in-house assistant at the beautiful and legendary RAK Studios in St. John's Wood. He's worked for artists such as Lewis Capaldi, Olivia Dean, Vegyn, HMLTD, Yussef Dayes, FKJ, Vince Staples, Tones & I,  and more...

At RAK he's been a part of a variety of projects, from full-band recordings and intimate, cozy vocal setups to vast orchestral recordings and filming sessions. He is a fan of big drum sounds in reverberant rooms paired with warm analogue tones. His attention to detail and uniquely personal-professional approach have allowed him to create efficient, artist-friendly recording environments that enhance creativity, streamline workflow, and facilitate a competitively high standard. All this, while providing as much freedom and versatility to the engineer as possible.

Beyond engineering and production, he brings over a decade of experience as a drummer. He believes in taking the time to achieve great sounds that serve the song within the room itself before microphones or equipment even come into play. With expertise gained at RAK, Studio 13, and various other studios, he is passionate about shaping and capturing sound without rushing the process — whether behind the console or behind the drum kit — always focused on fulfilling the vision of the artist and producer and delivering to the sensitive ear of the listener.
